The stock muffler section on the McLaren 720S keeps volume and character in check, but it also carries a surprising amount of weight and restriction. Unobtanium’s titanium cat back X-pipe exhaust replaces the factory rear muffler assembly with a carefully engineered X-pipe layout in ultra light titanium, cutting a significant amount of mass from the rear of the car while freeing up the 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 to breathe and sound the way it should.

Each system is hand fabricated from lightweight titanium tubing with smooth mandrel bends, a true X style crossover and properly placed flex bellows. CNC machined flanges and factory style hangers allow the exhaust to bolt up cleanly to the OEM connections, so you gain flow and weight savings without awkward fitment or homemade brackets. The end result is a rear section that takes real weight out of the car, improves flow after the turbos and still installs and lives like a high quality OEM part.

On the road the result is a sharper, more exotic tone with more turbo whistle and crackle on overrun without resorting to a straight pipe race setup. The X-pipe layout helps balance pulses from each bank, smoothing out harshness and giving the car a more refined pitch at cruise, then opening up into a properly aggressive McLaren note when you roll into the throttle. Paired with factory primary cats or high flow downpipes, the system supports substantial power levels and tuning while managing heat and backpressure more effectively than the stock rear section.
