Track Proven MCS Suspension for the BMW F8X M2, M3 and M4
The BMW F8X M2, M3 and M4 are serious performance cars right out of the box, with strong turbo power, a rigid chassis and real track capability. As you start adding grip and driving harder, the stock suspension becomes the limiting factor. Motion Control Suspension solves that. Built in the USA and proven in championship winning race programs, MCS dampers deliver the control, consistency and feedback the F8X chassis really deserves.
With years of testing on our own and customer cars, we have seen consistent improvements in pace, tire wear and driver confidence compared to the OEM suspension. We have set multiple lap records in BMW and Porsche platforms using MCS systems and in our experience this is the solution we trust when an F80, F82 or F87 needs to work on both street and track.
Why Choose MCS for Your F8X M2, M3 or M4
- Motorsport bred: Developed by a team with decades of professional racing and OEM development experience, proven in major GT and endurance programs.
- Real performance gains: Increased mechanical grip, better platform control and more confidence on turn in and corner exit translate directly into faster, more consistent laps.
- Street friendly, track ready: Thoughtful valving and high quality internals mean improved ride quality on the street with far more control on track compared to the stock adaptive dampers.
- More robust and fully rebuildable: MCS hardware is designed for long service life and is completely serviceable and revalveable as your program evolves.
- Made and serviced in the USA: Built, assembled and supported in the United States for quick turnaround and straightforward service.
- Fast, knowledgeable support: You are working with a race shop that runs, tunes and wins on MCS dampers, not just a reseller.
Built Around the F8X Chassis
The F8X platform puts a lot of demand on the suspension. Big torque, wide tires and strong brakes mean the dampers have to manage weight transfer, curb usage and long stints on track without losing composure. The factory system works well for everyday use but can feel vague and underdamped when you step up to more aggressive tires, alignment and power. MCS monotube construction, large shaft diameters and precise adjusters give you the support and control you need without making the car nervous or harsh.
With a properly set up MCS package, steering response is cleaner, mid corner balance is easier to trust and traction off slower corners is significantly improved. Whether you are running canyons, HPDE weekends or time attack, this system gives you the range you need to dial the car in for tire choice, aero and driving style.
RWE Curated Assemblies
Most off the shelf coilover kits are built to a single compromise that does not really suit anyone perfectly. We approach it differently. Every MCS F8X kit we sell is specified, assembled and checked in house with your goals in mind.
-
Street / Track Package
Our go to option for an F8X that needs to do everything. Spring rates and settings are chosen to prioritize comfort and control on the street while remaining fully capable on track. This is the setup many customers daily drive and use for HPDE and track days. -
Custom Package
For more focused builds, such as heavy aero cars, wider tires or dedicated track and time attack cars, we can spec a fully custom package. Choose the “Custom” option in the Assembly menu and we will consult with you on damper configuration, spring rates and overall setup to match your goals and experience level.
Our complete assemblies typically include MCS dampers, our spec main and helper springs and the required hardware for the BMW F8X M2, M3 and M4. All components are assembled, torqued and paint marked in house so you receive a true ready to bolt on solution.
MCS Damper Configuration Options
The F8X kit is available in several MCS configurations so you can match adjustment range and complexity to how you use the car. All share the same build quality and core piston design, with the difference being how many adjustments you have and how wide the tuning window is.
-
1 Way Non-Remote
A single adjustment that changes rebound and compression together. Simple to use, ideal for mixed street and track cars and drivers who want a noticeable improvement without having to chase separate settings at every event. -
2 Way Non-Remote
Independent rebound and compression adjustment on the damper body. This gives you more control over how the car responds on entry versus over bumps and curbs, without the packaging complexity of remote canisters. -
2 Way Remote
Adds remote canisters with separate compression adjustment. The extra oil volume and finer control improve heat management and consistency during long sessions while giving you a wider usable adjustment range. -
3 Way Remote
Separate rebound and independent high and low speed compression adjustments. This lets you tune support for braking and aero separately from compliance over bumps, ideal for serious track and time attack cars. -
4 Way Remote
Maximum adjustment range and resolution, with independent rebound and high and low speed compression control. Best suited for dedicated race and heavy aero cars where you want to fine tune the chassis for specific tracks, tires and conditions.
Street / Track and Custom spring and setup options are available across these MCS configurations. For a deeper dive into the differences between each option and recommendations for your use case, visit our MCS Assembly Option Information page.
Coilover Rear vs Divorced Rear
We typically supply every F8X MCS system as a true coilover rear for maximum adjustment range, accurate corner weighting and simplified packaging. The same dampers can be configured in a divorced rear layout if your rules or preferences require it. Choose your preferred configuration from the dropdown when ordering.
Contrary to what you may have seen online, you do not need to tie a cage into the rear shock towers to safely run a coilover rear on E9X, F8X or G8X chassis. On older platforms such as E36 and E46 we do recommend reinforcement load plates, but the modern cars handle a properly engineered coilover rear without issue. Of the thousands of MCS kits we have assembled, we have not had failures related to this configuration, even on high spring rate, slick tire and aero heavy race cars.
Coilover rear setups may produce a light squeak from the rear with certain sway bar and spring contact conditions. This is superficial and acceptable for track use, but if you are highly sensitive to small noises a divorced rear configuration may be a better fit.
Installation Notes
Front adjustable endlinks are required when installing this kit. Many owners already have upgraded endlinks installed, so we do not automatically include them. If you need a set, compatible options are available separately in our catalog.
Being true motorsport dampers, these do not include mounts for the factory yaw sensors. Most track cars simply secure the sensors to the body or harness and code them out. For a cleaner solution, we offer shock body clamps that mount the yaw sensors in an appropriate orientation for a finished, OEM plus install. These are included at no additional charge when you purchase an F8X MCS kit from us.
Custom Tuning Available
No two builds or drivers are exactly the same. If you have a specific use case, such as heavy aero, particular tire sizes, a dedicated time attack or wheel to wheel car or a street car that must stay within certain NVH limits, we can tailor the package to match. Spring rates, nitrogen pressure and custom valving are available by request. Choose the “Custom” option at checkout and include your contact information. We will reach out to review your current setup, goals and experience level before finalizing the spec.
Custom valving and special order configurations may add lead time depending on season and demand.
In Stock and Ready to Ship
We keep popular F8X M2, M3 and M4 MCS systems and spring combinations in stock and can usually ship complete kits within one business day when all components are on the shelf. Order a complete kit and we will ship a fully assembled, ready to bolt on damper package, torqued to spec and paint marked so you can install with confidence.
If you are not sure which package is right for you, reach out for a quick consultation and we will help you choose the right system for your F8X and your driving.
